Winter Lecture Series at The Nature Foundation at Wintergreen

Join David Giltinan of the Charlottesville Astronomical Society for an exciting presentation on the next generation of super-sized telescopes to be unveiled to the world! These behemoth scopes, which will peer deep into space, include the Giant Magellan Telescope, with 7 mirrors each the size of the current largest land-based telescopes, and an even larger telescope being built in Europe. We’ll also take a quick look at some future technologies that NASA is developing, including star shades designed to actually see distant exoplanets currently lost in the glare of their host stars.
